The Caretaker Minister for Energy has cast doubt on news regarding changes in the solar net metering rate, stating that there is no change in the government's stance on the 19-rupee net metering rate. Instead of reducing electricity bills in winters, there is a possibility of an increase.
While speaking to the media alongside Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Muhammad Ali stated that the government is making efforts to promote solar net metering as it will be highly beneficial. There is a possibility of a significant increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.
He mentioned that due to electricity theft and the increase in the value of the US dollar, consumers are receiving expensive electricity, but continuous efforts are being made to reduce the tariff. In the country, incremental tariffs for industrial growth and affordable electricity will be implemented before October 31st.
