The Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted bail to Khadija Shah, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist, in two cases related to the violence that occurred on May 9. A two-member bench of the LHC, with Justice Ayla Neelum as the presiding judge, presided over the case and approved bail not only for Shah but also for nine other individuals involved in the same cases.
Prior to this decision, Khadija Shah, a PTI activist, who had been in judicial remand for her alleged involvement in multiple cases related to the May 9 riots, had filed an application with the Lahore High Court to obtain information about the various cases filed against her.
This application was submitted by Advocate Sameer Khosa on behalf of Ms. Shah. The petition asserted that the police had wrongly implicated the petitioner in these cases and argued that she had the right to be aware of any charges against her to ensure a fair trial.
The petition further requested the court to instruct both the police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide a comprehensive list of First Information Reports (FIRs) that had been registered against the petitioner.
