*ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court rejected on Thursday a petition to disqualify Pakistan’s ambassador to the US, Ali Jahanagir Siddiqui.*
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that Siddiqui is not a civil servant and that his appointment was not according to the law.
The court asked for the law that says that an ambassador has to be a civil servant.
Justice Athar Minallah remarked that it is the prerogative of the executive to appoint whomever they choose as an ambassador.
