AJK commends Kashmiris for rejecting farcical local body elections in IOK

MIRPUR (AJK): AJK President Sardar Masood Khan has congratulated people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) for downright rejecting the sham civic polls drama staged by New Delhi to perpetuate its illegitimate occupation of Kashmir.

“People of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir once again demonstrated that they will accept nothing short of freedom from India and to have their incontrovertible right to self-determination through a free and fair plebiscite under UN supervision,” the President said during his meeting with Director Programs Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR), Altaf Hussain Wani at Jammu Kashmir House.

Wani called on AJK President at Jammu and Kashmir House and apprised the later about the activities and performance of Kashmiri delegation at Geneva during the 39th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The President highly eulogized the efforts of Altaf Wani and members of Kashmiri delegation for highlighting Kashmir issue in its true perspective and drawing the attention of world delegates towards the fast deteriorating situation in IOK. He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir and government of Pakistan are determined to continue their efforts for exposing India on the basis of UN Human Rights Commission’s Report on Kashmir.

Expressing his hope that British and European Parliaments will also compile their reports on the state of human rights in Occupied Kashmir.
President Masood said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that important world media outlets like National Geographic, New York Times, Al Jazeera and The Guardian have started paying their attention to the situation in Kashmir.

He said that brutal and inhuman acts of Indian occupation forces to target and blind the innocent peaceful youth in IOK have pricked the conscience of the global community and it has started realizing that Kashmiris are being treated cruelly and unfairly.

“The moment is ripe for people of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan and Kashmiri Diaspora all over the world to synergize all their efforts for effectively advocating Kashmir cause and exposing Indian brutalities in Occupied Kashmir,” President Khan said.

Commending the unwavering courage and steadfastness of Syed Ali Gillani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and Asiya Andarabi, AJK President went on to say that the drama of a sham elections was aimed at giving an impression to the world that the situation in Occupied Kashmir has returned to normal and people are happy under Indian constitutional arrangements.

He condemned the state terrorism and continued detention and house arrest of Hurriyat leaders in occupied Kashmir and demanded the immediate release of all those arrested during the anti-poll drive.
Meanwhile, a three-member PML-N delegation also called on President Sardar Masood Khan and discussed with him host of administrative and development issues. The delegation headed by Member of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Council Sardar Abdul Khali Wasi and comprising Sardar Altaf and Riaz Roshan from Constituency IV of Poonch brought the issue of the dilapidated conditions of roads at Thorar, Tain, Datoot, Rahara, Khairian, Bhairi and Langriat in the
notice of President. The delegation also expressed their concern over shifting of two posts of Tain Higher Secondary School and demanded that the posts should be reinstated as soon as possible.
