Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, reportedly disappointed with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former cricketers' conduct, is rumored to consider resigning from his role as the white-ball cricket captain upon returning from India, according to informed sources on Friday.
Amidst Pakistan's struggles in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, where they face potential elimination, the 29-year-old has been seeking advice on his future, consulting with figures like former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja.
During training at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, Azam sought guidance from Raja, and the decision to continue as captain will be influenced by consultations upon his return. In the current circumstances, Babar values advice, particularly from his father, and his close aides are reportedly advising him to step down from leadership in all three formats.
The recommendation is based on the belief that notable captains have faced challenges in Test series in Australia. While Babar initially planned to make this decision in India, he has now postponed it and will finalize his choice upon returning to Pakistan.
