Pakistan and Australia to further enhance bilateral relations in diverse fields

Pakistan and Australia have agreed to consolidate and further enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields in line with the shared objectives of peace and development.
The resolve came during 7th Session of Pakistan-Australia Senior Officials Talks held via video-conference today [Wednesday].
The Pakistan side was led by Additional Secretary Asia-Pacific Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, while Deputy Secretary, Indo-Pacific Group, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Justin Hayhurst led the Australian side.
The two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations including political, economic trade and investment, defence, security, education and technical cooperation and people-to-people contacts.
Welcoming the steady progress in bilateral relations based on mutual trust and understanding, the two sides underscored the importance of regular interaction and exchange of high-level visits to boost bilateral ties.
The Pakistani side sought Australia’s cooperation to facilitate early return of Pakistani students to Australia who could not travel due to Covid-19 situation.
The Australian Deputy Secretary appreciated Pakistan’s facilitative role in safe evacuation of their nationals and others from Afghanistan.
