PTI Intra Party elections: 2.7 million members voting underway

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf Intra Party elections are under way in the country between the Insaaf Panel and the Ehtsaab Panel.
Voting for the new chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is underway with around 2.7 million registered members selecting either Imran Khan or Naik Muhammad Khan for the party’s top slot.
The voting that began at midnight Saturday will continue for 48 hours with party’s registered voters to choose either of the two panels with 14 members each by sending a text message from their mobile phones.
Two panels – Insaf Panel led by Imran Khan and Ehtisab Panel led by Naik Muhammad Khan – are in the run.
Chief Election Commissioner of PTI Senator Azam Khan Swati said over 2.7 million registered voters will receive a message from the PTI secretariat on their cellphone with details of both the panels to make one choice only. No party member is allowed to select besides these two panels, he said while speaking to a press conference on Friday.
The Insaf panel included, Imran Khan (Chairman), Shah Mehmood Qureshi (Vice Chairman), Jahangir Khan Tareen (Secretary General), Dr Arif Rehman Alvi (President Sindh), Yar Muhammad Rind (President Balochistan), Ishaq Khan Khakwani (President South Punjab), Abdul Aleem Khan (President Central Punjab), Aamir Mehmood Kiyani (President North Punjab), Faiz Ullah Kamoka (President West Punjab), Ali Amin Gandapur (President South Region KPK), Shah Farman (President Peshawar Region KPK), Mehmood Khan (President Malakand Region KPK), Zar Gul Khan (President Hazara Region KPK), Raja Khurram Nawaz (Islamabad Region).
