Inflation Rate in Pakistan drops to 0.4% in first half of FY 2018-19

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minster Imran Khan has directed to evolve a coordinated price control mechanism at federal and provincial levels to check profiteering and hoarding.
Chairing the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he also directed to provide all possible relief to the low income segments of society as per PTI's election manifesto.
Later briefing newsmen about the cabinet meeting, Minister for Planning, Khusro Bakhtiar said the inflation rate remained just point four percent during first five months of PTI government.
He said the inflation in PPP's first five months rule was registered at 11.2 percent and in the PML-N's tenure, it was four percent.
Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Ministry of Petroleum has been directed to come out with a comprehensive plan to address the gas shortage problem in the country.
He said the cabinet decided to keep names of 172 persons on Exit Control List until the Supreme Court issues its detailed verdict on the matter.
The Minister said the government would further consider the issue after detailed verdict of the apex court and would decide whether it should file a review or not.
