Pakistan Foreign Remittance countrywide in first half of FY17

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Overseas Pakistani workers remitted US $9458.66 million in first six months (July to December) of FY17, compared with $ 9688.34 million received during the same period in the preceding year.
During December 2016, the inflow of worker's remittances amounted to $1584.17 million, which is 1.2 per cent lower than November 2016 and December 2015.
According to a statement of State Bank of Pakistan, the country wise details for the month of December 2016 show that inflows from Saudi Arabia, UAE, USA, UK, GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and EU countries amounted to $475.75 million, $339.93 million, $182.17 million, $181.85 million, $203.63 million and $35.08 million respectively compared with the inflow of $ 501.99 million, $ 339.53 million, $208.05 million, $190.57 million, $209.5 million and $35.25 million respectively in December 2015.
Remittances received from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during December 2016 amounted to $165.76 million together as against $131.24 million received in December 2015.
