Indian upper House takes up Triple Talaq bill today

NEW DELHI: Indian government will introduce the triple talaq bill today(Friday)for consideration and passing in Rajya Sabha. The bill, which has been already cleared by the Lok Sabha, is set to be tabled in the upper house with the government looking to introduce all three amendments.
Yesterday, Union Cabinet approved certain amendments in the Triple Talaq bill including bail provisions for the accused before the trial. Talking to reporters after cabinet meeting in New Delhi, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the cabinet has approved three amendments to the Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Bill.
Other bills scheduled to be taken up by the Upper house are Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Bill and Commercial Courts (Amendment) Bills.
