PITB launches website and helpline for the missing children

LAHORE: (APP) Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif said here on Thursday that the board, in collaboration with the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau (CPWB) and the Punjab Police, has launched a web portal that would be helpful in finding parents or guardians of the missing children.
Adressing a meeting at Arfa Software Technology Park, Dr Umar said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, a website and helpline has been developed to facilitate citizens, police, agencies and relevant organisations to find out missing children and reunite them with their families.
He said necessary documents, pictures and other details of children, that had gone missing, and now recovered by Edhi, CPWB, Punjab Police and other departments concerned, are being uploaded to http://missing.punjab.gov.pk/children.
"Access to the portal has been provided to all relevant departments so that it could be updated on time, and parents and guardians could search their children through the website easily," he added.
Dr Saif maintained that the helpline-1121 had been activated round-the-clock whereon any citizen can report or get information about a child either went missing or found.
"Data of 166 recovered children have been uploaded on the website so far that contains picture of the child, name of the child and his father, Recovery Number given by the department, organisation or NGO, date when he/she was found, the city or place from where he/she was recovered and his/her present location. The website has content in Urdu to make it easy for all citizens," he mentioned.
Dr Saif invited citizens to help the government in uniting the missing children with their parents by using the website and helpline.
