KPK Police in severe shortage of PSP Officers

PESHAWAR: (APP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has approached the Home and Tribal Affairs Department KP to request the Federal Government to post PSP Officers in the province in order to meet the shortage and cope with the challenges of terrorism and militancy.
A police communique issued here said that KP Police force is facing alarming shortage of officers which has direct bearing on its fight against terrorism and militancy.
It said that at present KP needs 5 Additional IGPs while only 2 are available. Similarly, in the rank of DIGs against 18 sanctioned posts of DIGs only 8 are currently working while against 35 sanctioned posts of SSPs only 17 are available.
Similarly, shortage in the ranks of SP is more glaring and out of 78 sanctioned posts only 57 are available, it added.
KP Police has approached the Home and Tribal Affairs Department KP and requested that keeping in view the quantum of threats and recent terrorist attacks, approach the federal government and seek posting of PSP Officers in the province in order to meet the deficiency and coping with the challenges of terrorism and militancy besides maintaining the operational capability of the units established for curbing militancy.
