Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is ‘split’ on whether to join the next federal link link to be formed most likely under the premiership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif.
A majority of party leaders were in favour of cooperating with the new government only to the extent of introducing electoral reforms while others wanted to become the part of the federal link link for the sake of political stability in the country.
Sources added that the latter group thought if the PPP link did not join the cabinet link, the new government might not last even for two months.
Divergent views within the party had prompted PPP link Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former president Asif Ali Zardari to choose the best option together, sources said, and added that the party’s high-command was expected to announce the decision in a few days from now.
