KP CM defend Speaker KP Assembly

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Tuesday informed that KP Assembly's Speaker Asad Qaiser was not guilty of any offence.

He said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had initiated inquiry against him after receiving an anonymous letter.

Responding to a point of order of PML-N parliamentary leader in KP assembly Sardar Aurangzeb Nalota, he said Speaker Asad Qaiser was ready to present himself for accountability.

The parliamentary leader of PML-N Aurangzeb Nalota on a point of order said PTI Chief Imran Khan had always pointed finger at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and demanded his resignation after PANAMA leaks but unfortunately remained silent over accumulation of property beyond resources by Asad Qaiser and inquiry by NAB against him.

Nalota said, "We have reposed confidence in Speaker and Deputy Speaker and appointed Asad Qaiser and Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi respectively for the two positions unopposed."

He deplored that corruption scam was surfaced against Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaiser but said he did not demand his resignation, adding PTI leadership should remember that they missed no chance to defame Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but PML-N was not getting involved in any such activity.

Parliamentary Leader of PPP Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha said on the occasion that the issue would have been discussed when speaker Asad Qaiser was present in the House.

Provincial Minister for Health and Public Engineering Shah Farman said NAB received 200 complaints on daily basis and anonymous letter against Asad Qaiser was of those.

He said KP government established Ehtisaab Commission to take the corrupt people to task, adding PTI wanted accountability of each and every person, and as far as Asad Qaiser is concerned he was ready to present himself before NAB.

Meanwhile, PTI MPA Ziaullah Afridi got annoyed with his own government in KP and said PTI Chief Imran Khan had acknowledged that the Ehtisaab Commission (EC) was failed to deliver.

He said he was arrested by EC officials who were illegally appointed, adding there was a difference between EC and NAB. NAB had its own mechanism but the EC was a failure.

Parliamentary leader of ANP Sardar Hussain Babab said the ANP had clear stance on corruption. He said allegations and media trails had put people into unwanted distress.

Leader of the Opposition Maulana Lutfur Rehman said it was unwised to pass comments on cases that were in courts. He said the PTI leadership should have to accept that politics of allegations was started by them.

Rashad Khan of PML-N slammed PTI for doing nothing during their four-year in power. (APP)
