KABUL – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday met with the Commanderof the US Central Command General Joseph Votel in ARG Presidential Palace.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the meeting was organized onThursday evening in Gul Khana Palace.

According to ARG Palace, the two sides discussed the US strategy for SouthAsia, fight against terrorism, reforms in security and defense sectors, andthe upcoming parliamentary and district councils elections.

The ARG Palace further added that the participants of the meeting describedthe reforms in security and defense sectors as positive and insisted onfurther cooperation between the two nations.

The visiting US CENTCOM Commander and the US delegation vowed to supportAfghanistan during the upcoming elections, specifically to assist with thesecurity of the elections.

The parliamentary and district councils elections have been scheduled for20th October this year.
