In Geneva, the United Nations humanitarian office issued a concerning report on Tuesday regarding the dire situation in Gaza. It revealed that nearly 200,000 people, which amounts to nearly a tenth of the population, have been forced to leave their homes since the beginning of hostilities. This mass displacement has triggered grave concerns about impending shortages of essential resources, particularly water and electricity, due to an ongoing blockade.
Jens Laerke, the spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), emphasized the alarming escalation of displacement across the Gaza strip.
He disclosed that more than 187,500 individuals had been displaced since the previous Saturday, with many seeking refuge in schools. Furthermore, he warned that the number of displaced people is likely to rise as clashes in the region persist.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization (WHO) also reported a distressing situation in Gaza. The WHO revealed that there had been a total of 13 attacks on health facilities in the Gaza strip since the weekend.
Additionally, the organization expressed deep concern that its medical supplies, which were stored in the region, had already been depleted, further compounding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
