Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's highest authority, stated on Tuesday that Tehran denied any involvement in the recent Hamas attack on Israel. However, he praised what he described as Israel's significant military and intelligence defeat, referring to it as an "irreparable" blow to the nation.
Khamenei emphasized the extent of the damage caused by the attack, likening it to a destructive earthquake that had severely impacted critical structures in Israel. He attributed the disaster to the actions of the Zionist regime itself.
Iran has a longstanding history of supporting the Hamas group, which governs the Gaza Strip and rejects Israel's right to exist.
In response to the attack, Israel announced on Tuesday that it had regained control over the Gaza border and was deploying mines in areas where militants had breached the barrier during the violent weekend assault. This followed a night of relentless Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza enclave.
While the United States asserted on Monday that Iran was complicit in Hamas' attack on Israel, it clarified that it lacked concrete intelligence or evidence pointing to Tehran's direct involvement.
