26 power generation projects of 13,882 MW under process: Officials

ISLAMABAD (APP): Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) is currently processing 26 power generation projects based on Independent Power Producers (IPPs) with a cumulative capacity of 13,882 MW.

Official sources told APP here Monday that out of these, 16 projects of 6339 MW cumulative capacity were hydropower while nine projects of 7423 MW were based on coal.
In addition to these projects, they said, PPIB was also procession R-LNG based power projects of around 3600 MW in the public sector.
Three each projects having 2,127 MW and 1,980 MW capacity would be completed by 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Wind power projects of 350MW capacity installed in Sindh
Similarly, two projects of 265 MW accumulative capacity would start generation in 2019, three projects (2700 MW) in 2020, 2 projects (1450 MW) in 2021, eight projects (2692 MW) in 2022, two projects (1450 MW) in 2013 and three projects (1218 MW) in 2024.
It is pertinent to mention here, the PPIB is a "One Window" facilitator to the private investors n the field of power generation on behalf of the federal government.
Tarbela Hydropower project generation to be enhanced to 6,298 MW
Since, inception PPIB has successfully managed 9,048 MW through setting up 31 IPPs.
The PPIB had fetched $ 10 billion investment through the 31 IPPs.
