In Kolkata, India, ahead of the World Cup match against England, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, despite previous denials of "shopping rumours," was observed engaging in shopping activities.
Babar, accompanied by the team's left-arm opener Imam-ul-Haq, visited Kolkata's South City Mall on Thursday. During the outing, Babar purchased sarees for his family members while consulting with them on a video call. Additionally, the duo bought sunglasses, clothes, and other items, including gifts for their families back home.
These shopping-related activities by Babar Azam contradict earlier denials via his representative agency, rejecting media reports claiming the purchase of jewelry and clothes in India. The Saya Corporation, in a statement, vehemently refuted these claims as utterly false.
Notably, Pakistani players Usama Mir, Mohammad Haris, and Wasim Jr had previously explored a shopping mall near their team hotel in Kolkata. The shopping spree took place at Mani Square, generating excitement among shoppers and cricket enthusiasts as locals witnessed Pakistani players strolling through the mall.
During their visit, the cricketers received warm wishes and support from the local crowd, expressing hope for the national side's success in the upcoming match. Abdullah Shafique and Zaman Khan were also seen enjoying the shopping experience, with Shafique and Mir purchasing sarees for their family members.
However, Pakistan's path to the World Cup semi-finals has become nearly impossible after New Zealand's recent win against Sri Lanka, making a massive victory over England crucial in their last match.
