First official meeting of inquiry committee formed to probe into Dawn story is being held at Punjab House in Islamabad.

A seven-member inquiry committee headed by retired Justice Aamer Raza would ascertain source behind leaking the information about a high-level meeting between top military and civilian leadership.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed was asked to step down from his post.

"The planted story related to the NSC and NAP meetings published in Daily Dawn on 6th October was a breach of national security. Evidence available so far points to a lapse on part of Information Minister, who has been directed to step down from office to enable holding of an independent and detailed inquiry," the government had stated in a press release.
