At least 10 Afghan Army soldiers killed in a Taliban attack

HERAT: At least 10 Afghan security men were killed and two others wounded in Taliban attack and friendly fire incident, Afghan army said Wednesday. Taliban gunmen attacked a post of ANA in Laman area, outskirts of Kala-e-Naw, capital of Badghis province, last night, said Najeebullah Najeebi, spokesman of ANA in western Afghanistan. In the ensuing clash, he said, four troops were killed and two more wounded, adding the post had recently been set up for the security of a voter registration centre in the area.

Local residents, however, said attack left six ANA troops dead and as many wounded. Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi claimed that seven troops were killed as many wounded and one was captured by Taliban.

He said the Taliban also seized to ANA posts. In another development, aircrafts bombed local police in the Sang Khars area of Maqur district just before noon today, killing six police, said Muhammad Naser Nazari, member of Badghis provincial council.
