Cotton sowing in Punjab: government directions to farmers

Punjab Government has issued an order restraining farmers from sowing cotton crop before 15th of next month.
The order has been issued by the Provincial Home Department under Section-144 as a precautionary measure to save the cotton crop from sustaining damage from Pink Bollworm.
It says sowing of cotton crop before mid-April provides early feed to the Pink Bollworm, which most threatening insect pest of cotton. Early crops become hatcheries for the insect pests which severely damage the whole cotton crop of the season.
The order says cotton crop sown before 15th of next month is to be immediately uprooted.
