NEW DELHI:In India, more than 100 artists have urged the people not to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party for demonstrating Islamophobia and communal polarization in the country.
In a statement, the visual artists have urged voters not the re-elect the Bharatiya Janata Party as it has created a pervasive atmosphere of fear and all-consuming hatred.
Similar statements have also been issued by theatre persons and scientists.
They said the results will either take us forward towards our constitutional ideals or back to a brute majoritarian ideal of a so-called nationalism.
