RAWALPINDI – Highest level transfers and postings have been made inPakistan Army.
Lieutenant General Asim Munir has been appointed as the newdirector-general (DG) of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Gen Asim, who was recently promoted to the rank of Liutenant-General,previously served as head of Miltary Intelligence (MI). He would takecharge of his new role after the retirement of outgoing ISI chief Lt GenNaveed Mukhtar on Oct 25.
The statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) added that LtGen Muhammad Adnan was appointed as the new vice chief of the general staff.
The Army also assigned Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki as commander of Mangla Corps, aprimary strike formation of the Pakistan Army. The corps is also known as 1Strike Corps and is one of the two primary strike corps.
Lt Gen Shaheen Mazher was appointed as commander of the strategic PeshawarCorps, responsible for the tribal areas and the border with Afghanistan.
Three other officers were assigned to staff positions at the GeneralHeadquarters (GHQ). Lt Gen Azhar Saleh Abbasi was appointed as chief oflogistics staff, Lt Gen Abdul Aziz as the new military secretary and Lt GenWaseem Ashraf as IG Arms.
