Former Prime Minister Pervaiz Elahi's wife has filed an appeal against the High Court's decision in the Supreme Court. The request names the Punjab government, the Secretary of Interior Punjab, and the IG Punjab as respondents. Pervaiz Elahi's release was sought from the Supreme Court, and the request also includes a plea to prevent his arrest in any future cases.
The request seeks orders to prevent Pervaiz Elahi's arrest in any unknown cases and to issue orders for his appearance in court. The Lahore High Court had previously dismissed Pervaiz Elahi's request on the grounds of ineffectiveness, but despite release orders, he was arrested again. The High Court did not review the facts related to PervIz Elahi's arrest.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, who had always been aligned with the establishment throughout his extensive political career, is currently facing criticism from various powerful circles. He has been entangled in court proceedings and various detention centers for the past few months.
Cases against him have also been filed, just like his leader Imran Khan. If the courts grant him bail in one case, the government takes him into custody in another. According to some political analysts, there may be a penalty for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi not leaving Imran Khan's side, and if he announces leaving the party today, all his problems could be resolved.
On the other hand, critics of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi suggest that the establishment might be orchestrating repeated arrests as a drama to build him up as a hero. They claim that, ostensibly, by keeping him under strict control and using his sacrifices to rally PTI workers, they are preparing him to lead the party according to the establishment's wishes after Imran Khan's incompetency.
