CTD Punjab makes a big breakthrough against Daesh

Amid concerns of a potential terrorism incident in Lahore, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab conducted two distinct operations on Saturday, resulting in the apprehension of two individuals affiliated with a proscribed extremist organization Daesh.
In Rawalpindi, a significant operation led to the arrest of Isa, a high-ranking commander associated with Daesh. Meanwhile, in Gujranwala, another operation executed by the CTD led to the capture of a militant known as Zakir.
These apprehensions were further accompanied by the discovery of explosives, detonators, cellphones, and a sum of cash in the possession of these detained individuals, as verified by the Additional Inspector General (IG) of the CTD.
Confirming these arrests, the Additional IG of the CTD disclosed that legal proceedings had been initiated against the apprehended militants, and an ongoing investigation was in progress to unearth further details regarding their activities and any potential accomplices. Additionally, the official revealed that a total of 52 individuals suspected of involvement in illicit activities had been taken into custody during 369 extensive combing operations conducted exclusively within various regions of Punjab throughout the week.
Furthermore, an astounding 13,871 individuals underwent questioning during these operations, underscoring the concerted efforts of the authorities to maintain security and combat the looming threat of terrorism in the region
