On Monday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar instructed authorities to ensure the provision of the "best and cost-effective" amenities for Pakistani pilgrims during next year's Hajj, according to a report by the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
This year, over 81,000 Pakistani pilgrims participated in the annual spiritual pilgrimage through the government scheme, with the remaining from a total quota of 179,210 using private tour operators. To discuss the facilities for pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj in the next year, Kakar presided over a meeting of officials from the Religious Affairs Ministry, which was attended by Religious Affairs Minister Aneeq Ahmed.
The directive from Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the importance of providing the best and most affordable facilities for the pilgrims while maintaining the quality of Hajj arrangements. A statement attributed to the Prime Minister's Office, as reported by the state-run media, mentioned that Kakar was briefed on the Religion Ministry's performance and the steps being taken to formulate the Hajj policy for 2024.
Furthermore, the prime minister urged the meeting participants to closely monitor private Hajj companies to ensure that pilgrims choosing private Hajj schemes encounter no difficulties. He also requested the submission of the Hajj policy for approval by the federal cabinet.
Last week, Religious Affairs Minister Aneeq Ahmed held discussions with Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki and the Regional Director of the Muslim World League in Pakistan, Saad bin Masoud Al-Harthy, regarding the arrangements for Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj 2024.
According to a statement released by the Religion Ministry after the meeting, Ambassador Malki assured Ahmed that additional facilities would be provided to Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj 2024.
