In a first, Rangers and FC given unprecedented new powers by government

The government has made a significant decision to curb smuggling of various commodities, including sugar, wheat, and fertilizers.

Powers to control smuggling have been delegated to Rangers and the FC (Frontier Corps). The FC has issued an official notification stating that FC and Rangers personnel will be authorized to prevent smuggling of essential items at inter-provincial checkposts.

Armed forces personnel on duty will prevent smuggling of flour, wheat, sugar, and fertilizers at checkposts. FC and Rangers will oversee the supervision of regions within fifty kilometers of the international border.

FC and Rangers personnel will not have authority to monitor urban areas, customs areas, and ports. Non-military personnel will not be deployed at border crossings, international airports, and bonded warehouses.
