Conviction of 68 terrorists: SC announces interim verdict against PHC decision

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has given interim verdict in the release of 68 terror convicts.

SC has suspended the Peshawar High Court verdict on Friday, to set aside convictions of 68 suspected militants, most of whom were awarded death sentence by military courts.

Earlier, Peshawar High Court had declared void the convictions of the said suspects in terrorism-related cases, and ordered their release.

A Supreme Court bench today heard an appeal challenging the high court’s judgment.

During the hearing, the additional attorney general argued that the Peshawar High Court did not examine the facts properly. He contended that the suspects were involved in serious crimes, including terrorism.
