AIG among four martyred in Quetta blast

QUETTA: At least four persons including Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) were martyred and several others wounded in an explosion targeting a police vehicle in provincial capital’s Chaman Housing Scheme area on Thursday.

As per details, the miscreants targeted the vehicle of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hamid Shakeel when he was leaving his house for office in Chaman Housing Scheme.

The blast shook the entire area killing three persons including the AIG and wounding several others. The injured were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment.

Following the blast, rescue officials and law enforcement agencies reached the spot and cordoned off the area and launched investigation into the incident.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has strongly condemned the bomb attack on Police vehicle.

He expressed deep sorrow and grief over martyrdom of DIG and his driver in the incident.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the entire nation is united in the war against terror.

In a statement, she strongly condemned Quetta blast and said terrorists cannot deter the resolve of the people through dastardly acts. The minister said the nation would not rest till elimination of the last terrorist.
