CJP Justice Saqib Nisar leaves sleepless nights for those who had got loans written off

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court sought a comprehensive reply from 222 beneficiaries who had illegally got their loans written off, warning that in case of dissatisfaction of the court matter would be sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) .
A two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suo moto case related to waiving of Rs54 billion loans during the government of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. During the hearing, the top judge remarked that public money would be recovered even if the court has to attach properties of such companies and cleared that those companies would not respond the court notice have to face an ex-party decision.
The chief justice made it clear that all the people who got their loans written off illegally on a political basis or otherwise would have to return their loans to the national exchequer.
“As per a report of the Commission constituted by this Court, action against 222 individuals/companies (page No.107 of Vol-I of Commission’s Report) had been recommended on account of the fact that the loans were not written-off in accordance with law,’ said the order issued by the apex court.
The chief justice remarked that after waiving billions of loan, companies running their business smoothly and their owners using luxury cars but not ready to deposit money of public exchequer.
Subsequently, further hearing of the case was adjourned till June 19.
