PM inaugurates international terminal at Sialkot Airport

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated international terminal at Sialkot Airport on Monday.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, he termed it the first successful greenfield airport in the world.

The Prime Minister said unlike other unsuccessful greenfield airports in the world, Sialkot International Airport is continuously being expanded with favourable outcomes.

A greenfield airport is a new airport constructed at an undeveloped site in contrast to the brownfield project where the already operational infrastructure is modified or upgraded.        

The Prime Minister said National Highway Authority is completing projects worth 200 billion rupees in the area.

He said PML-N is the only political party of the country which launched mega development projects and completed them on time.

He said the government added ten thousand megawatts electricity to national grid and  reduction in rates of electricity and gas is also under consideration.

Addressing a gathering at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the government will collaborate with the private sector to exploit the true export potential of the country.

He said the country should aim for over fifty billion dollars exports.

The Prime Minister said the government is considering an integrated program to enhance tax to GDP ratio.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the country's GDP is destined to rise to six per cent, and pointed out that had there been no sit-ins and politics of protests and allegations, the economic situation of country would have been far better.

He recalled the serious threat of terrorism that had once bogged down Pakistan and said the situation on this front too is far better and the remnants of terrorists are now on the run.

He said Pakistan has been spending huge resources on fighting extremism and terrorism, making business environment very conducive for local and foreign investors in all spheres.

Later, addressing a gathering of PML-N workers in Sialkot, the Prime Minister said the party has always pursued politics of decency with the sole objective of resolving people's problems.

He said he is very optimist that PML-N will again sweep the next polls.

The Prime Minister said PML-N is united and has addressed the problems faced by the country including that of terrorism and energy shortages.

He said we have not only addressed the energy shortages but added surplus energy to the system.   

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the present government has spread a network of motorways.
