KP cabinet approves Rs10, 000 stipend for each prayer leader

PESHAWAR: The provincial cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the chair Monday formally approved Rs 10,000 stipend for each qualified Prayer Leader (Pesh Imam of Jamia Mosque) costing Rs 3.25 billion to the provincial kitty per annum despite opposition by certain politico-religious entities.

The statement issued here after cabinet meeting in its meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the Pesh Imam qualified from any of the five recognized Madaris would be eligible for the monthly stipend. The Cainbet was informed that there were 27,096 Jamia Mosques across the province. The monthly stipend would start from next month, he said adding that official committees at district levels and seven-member Masjid committee would be formed to payment of stipend.

The cabinet was informed that Masjid committee would inform the district committee in case of transfer of any prayer leader besides giving its recommendation. The cabinet meeting approved a bill to regularize projects’ employees under which 4,835 employees of various project of permanent nature would be regularized.

The meeting also approved amendment in Partnership rules 1932 and changed registration fee and other fees for registration of firms and other matters.

The provincial cabinet considered stoppage of wrong use of Allopathy medicines and approved to authorize Deputy Commissioner (DC), Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and District Administration Officers to appoint inspectors. Under section 10 of 1962 act related to Allpathy medicines, the DCs, ADCs Assistant Commissioners and Additional Assistant Commissioner would perform duty of inspector.
