Supreme Court of Pakistan suspends death penalty of two Military Court convicts

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has suspended the death sentence of two convicts of Military Court and ordered to present all the trial records on next hearing. As per details, the bench consisted of two judges, Justice Gulzar Ahmad and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan. The bench suspended the death penalty of Haider Ali and Qari Zahir Gul. While giving the arguments in court, the counselor of both accused, Asma Jahangir claimed that the military court had not followed due legal process in sentencing the two men. The military authorities had neither allowed the two men access to counsels nor had the families been provided records of the trials, she said. The matter has been referred to CJP for the formation of larger bench to hear the case.
