River Chenab High Floods playing havoc across River Bed

HAFIZABAD (APP): Flood emergency has been declared in the district and all the departments have been put on red alert to meet any eventuality in case of high flood in the River Chenab.

According to official sources here on Monday, the river was in medium flood and it discharged 425,000 cusecs at Qadirabad Barrage this morning. All the villagers in the river belt area have also been directed to shift to safer places in case of high flood.

Meanwhile, Malik Nadeem Kamran Provincial Minister for Zakaat and Ushr & Chairman Cabinet Committee Monday visited here and chaired the meeting to review the arrangements made by the administration to contain the situation in case of high flood. Besides others Commissioner Gujranwala Capt. (R) Muhammad Asif, DCO Muhammad Ahmad Rajwana and Heads of different departments attended the meeting.

Malik Nadeem directed the officers to perform their duties with national spirit and in case of evacuation of flood affectees, they should be provided suitable and adequate shelter as well as proper food. He also directed to install integrated tracking system in the boats.

He warned that negligence in the performance of duties by any officer would not be tolerated.

During meeting the DCO briefed the minister regarding arrangements to provide all kind of assistance to the people during any flood emergency.
