Riyadh: The government of Saudi Arabia has allowed one million pilgrims to perform Hajj, this year.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the age of pilgrims should not be higher than 65 years. “Pilgrims should have been vaccinated with the approved vaccination by the Saudi government. They have to show their vaccination certificate on their arrival in Saudi Arabia. Their PCR and COVID-19 tests should be negative. It is important for pilgrims to conduct PCR and COVID-19 test before 72 hours from the arrival of Saudi Arabia,” it added.

The Saudi government wants to ensure the maximum safety and security of the pilgrims while ensuring that the "maximum number of Muslims worldwide can perform Hajj."

For the last two years, Saudi Arabia had a limited number of pilgrims due to COVID-19. In 2021 only 60,000 people perform Hajj. Before COVID-19, two Million people used to perform Hajj. link
