LAHORE: The authorities have decided to seal Allama Iqbal InternationalAirport on the arrival of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and hisdaughter Maryam Nawaz on Friday.

According to the local media reports, the security forces have finalized asecurity plan and as per the plan both Nawaz Sharif and his daughter MaryamNawaz will be sent to Islamabad on another plane immediately after theirarrival at Lahore airport.

It is to be mentioned here that the father-daughter duo had announced toreturn Pakistan from London on July 13 after accountability court announcedverdict in Avenfield reference. The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB)investigation team had already arrested Nawaz’s son-in-law Captain (retd)Safdar from Rawalpindi.

On Friday, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and CaptainSafdar were convicted and sentenced to prison in absentia for ten years,seven years and one year respectively, in a verdict that is likely tofurther disrupt an already chaotic campaign for national elections thismonth.
