LONDON – London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been named the Politician of the Yearat an annual awards ceremony held in the UK’s House of Commons complex forhis ongoing contribution to the political life in the British capital.
The annual Political and Public Life Awards presented by Britain’s ‘AsianVoice’ weekly newspaper here on Thursday also recognised UK defencesecretary Gavin Williamson as Cabinet Minister of the Year andIndian-origin politician Priti Patel as Conservative Party MP of the Year.
“Our armed forces are made strong by being made up of people of everysingle community and background… contributing to keep us safe,” saidWilliamson, on receiving his award.
