The Foreign Office (FO) has emphasized the global significance of the weapons abandoned by the allies in Afghanistan following the US withdrawal, stressing that they are now in the possession of Afghan terrorists. During a weekly media briefing held on Friday, spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch conveyed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism within its borders. Notably, Pakistan has also conveyed its apprehensions about recent incidents along the border to the Taliban government.
Furthermore, Ms. Baloch highlighted that concerns about terrorist attacks originating from Afghanistan have been formally addressed with Kabul. She emphasized that the issue of these weapons abandoned in Afghanistan requires international attention, as they are now in the hands of terrorist groups.
Additionally, Ms. Baloch announced that Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani is set to preside over the Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Conference in London, scheduled from September 12 to 15, where he will engage with leaders from various countries.
Turning to the subject of human rights violations in the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir of India (IIOJK), she noted that international human rights organizations have written letters to inform G20 countries about the severe restrictions on freedom of expression and the ongoing atrocities in the region. In response, she urged the Indian government to address the challenges faced by its own citizens and refrain from making unnecessary comments about Pakistan.
Ms. Baloch also underlined the cordial relations between Pakistan and Russia, mentioning that the caretaker foreign minister is currently finalizing details related to an upcoming visit to the United Kingdom.
