Noose tightens further against PTI leadership

The police have initiated an inquiry into the properties held by leaders associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who have been declared as absconders in a case stemming from the May 9 violence that erupted following the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan on corruption charges. This development marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the events surrounding Khan's arrest.
According to reports, the police have reached out to key authorities, including the commissioner of Lahore, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor, and the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Their purpose is to gather comprehensive information on the assets owned by these PTI leaders, laying the groundwork for potential property seizure proceedings.
In a further effort to take action against the absconding PTI leaders, the police have taken the matter to the courts, requesting permission to confiscate their assets as per Section 87 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC). This legal move underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the determination of law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability.
The list of individuals whose property details are being sought includes PTI chief's sisters Haleema Khan and Uzma Khan, as well as prominent PTI figures such as Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib, Zubair Niazi, Imtiaz Sheikh, Hafiz Farhat, Andleeb Abbas, Khalid Gujjar, Karamat Ali Khokar, and others.
These leaders have been designated as absconders by the investigation team for their failure to cooperate with the ongoing inquiry, adding a layer of complexity to the case.
