PTDC tourism initiatives in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (APP): Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) had introduced concrete measures including the construction of two motels at Chail Mankial and Buffer (Sawat) to promote tourism in the country.
Minister Incharge of the Cabinet Division informed the Senate on Wednesday through a written reply of a query that the PTDC had taken several initiatives to boost tourism in the country.

He said Rs 37,23,176 had been spent on account of repair and maintenance work in different PTDC motels. PTDC restaurant at Daman e Koh was operational through lease agreement and after a period of approximately 30 years.
He said PTDC had launched Pakistan Tourism Friends club in order to facilitate domestic and international tourists and providing them better facilities.
For sponsorship of PTDC's publicity material, banners, website, seminars/conferences, promotion of 'Pakistan Tourism Friends Club' scheme a memorandum of understanding between PTDC and University of Management & Technology Lahore was signed, he said, saying in this connection, UMT is providing support to PTDC for printing of publications, club cards and annual advertisements on World Tourism Day.

Pakistan Tours Ltd, a subsidiary of PTDC, regularly operates Bus Service between Rawalpindi and Naran every summer season. Its opening ceremony was held every in 1st week of June and it continues service till August 31.
He said Handi craft bazaars were setup in PTDC motels at Naran, Gilgit, Skardu and Ayubia on August 14 in connection of Independence Day celebrations and it continuous promotion of PTDC facilities and tourist attractions through social media network.
