Biodiversity and Business in North Pakistan: Government spending

ISLAMABAD (APP): The government had spent $ 1,571,120.69 on the project of Mountains and Markets: Biodiversity and Business in North Pakistan during last three years.
Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid Wednesday informed the house through a written rely that the projects run by the government were also include REDD+ Readiness Preparation Proposal (R-PP) with allocation of $ 83303.29 and Comprehensive Reduction and Elimination of Persistent Organic Polutants in Pakistan (POPs) with allocation of $ 5.1 millions.

He informed that the proposal of Green Pakistan Programme is under preparation in consultation with provinces and regions.
In this regard an allocation of Rs. 2.00 billion has been made for the Green Pakistan Programme for a period of five years.
The project include road and canal side plantations, rehabilitation and re-stocking of historical plantations, restoration & improvement of scrub forests, increase in existing cover of mangrove forests, conservation and enhancement in Juniper and Chilghoza forests, watershed and soil conservation in tropical forest areas (Reserved as well as Community Forests), rehabilitation of guzara and protected forests, protection and augmentation of dry temperate forests, Large scale urban afforestation drives.

He said steps are being taken to coordinate with the provincial governments for conservation of environment including inter provincial/ and inter ministerial meetings for monsoon & spring tree planting campaign.
The ministry of climate change convenes meetings of all provinces for conservation of wildlife species that are threatened by international trade.
Green Pakistan Programme Ministry of Climate Change holds regular meetings with provincial governments to make the Green Pakistan Programme effectively through.
