The dangerous outfield at Indian cricket Ground has increased the risk of injuries to players. Afghan coach Jonathan Trot spoke out about concerns regarding the outfield at the ground.
The third match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was played between Bangladesh and Afghanistan at Dharamshala Ground. During the match, observations were made about the outfield, raising concerns about player injuries when diving on the ground.
After Afghanistan's defeat, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium's outfield is under discussion. Afghanistan's head coach Jonathan Trot, while talking to Majib-ul-Rahman, expressed relief that despite the dive, he avoided serious injury.
He clarified that they are not blaming Afghanistan's performance and defeat on the outfield's condition but suggested that authorities should rectify the issues.
Jonathan Trot emphasized that if players are unsure about diving safely, they should focus on improving their fielding, which boosts players' morale worldwide. However, injuries during fielding can be distressing.
Trot mentioned that in his opinion, Majib was fortunate not to get injured while attempting to save boundaries during the dive.
He advised authorities to work on improving the outfield's condition using international standards.
