The presidency of the United Nations Security Council is currently held by Brazil, and they called for this emergency meeting in the wake of the Hamas attacks on Israel.
The government of Brazil has condemned the Hamas attacks in a statement and expressed solidarity with the people of Israel. Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there is no justification for resorting to violence and called on both parties to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further escalation.
Furthermore, Brazil emphasized that the conflict between Israel and Palestine is not a viable solution, and the revival of peaceful negotiations is an urgent necessity for the restoration of peace.
