London: Britain has taken a stance on the conflict between Canada and India, following in the footsteps of the United States by emphasizing respect for Canada's autonomy.
According to international media reports, on Friday, Britain reiterated its position on the Canada-India dispute, stating that all countries should respect autonomy and the rule of law.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the phone, after which a government spokesperson stated that the Prime Minister reaffirmed Britain's position that all countries should respect autonomy and the rule of law, including the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations with other countries.
It is clear that tensions between India and Canada escalated last month when Canada stated it was seriously investigating the involvement of Indian government agents in the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in June.
