Pakistan, Iran agree on coordinated border patrolling, intelligence sharing
Both sides agree to establish hotline communication between the field commanders along Pak-Iran border.
Pakistan and Iran have agreed to ensure that their soil was not used by any third party against any of the two countries.
They also agreed to establish hotline communication between the field commanders along Pak-Iran border, fencing by Iran on its side of the border, coordinated border patrolling, intelligence sharing and more frequent interactions between the two countries.
Qamar Javed Bajwa said that with improved special measures by Pakistan on Pak-Afghan border, terrorists were likely to exploit Pak-Iran friendly border and both countries needed to put in efforts to deny its use by them.
The Iranian Defence Minister acknowledged achievements of Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism and expressed his country’s willingness to enhance defence cooperation with Pakistan.
He said Pakistan had a special place in Iranian foreign policy.

Meanwhile, addressing a joint press conference along with Gen Staff Officer Iranian Army at Tehran, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that there are no terrorist sanctuaries inside Pakistan as Islamabad has taken effective measures on its side of the border with Afghanistan.
He said Pakistan Armed Forces are capable to thwart any threat with support of the nation. He said that prerogative of declaring Jehad rests only with state and Armed Forces are state instrument for its application against anti-state elements.
He said that Pakistan desired peace in Afghanistan and supported all initiatives in that regard. The ISIS is growing in Afghanistan as a threat to region and a regional approach is required to defeat it.
He thanked Iranian supreme leader for his supportive statement on Kashmir and said that regional peace and security remains at stake unless this core issue is resolved to the aspiration of Kashmiris in line with UN Resolution.
