PMDC new admission policy for medical students 2016-17  

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Minister for National Health Services   Saira Afzal Tarar on Tuesday said that new admission policy of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) will be strictly followed to ensure merit.

In a statement, the minister said that there will be zero tolerance for any deviation from the policy and anyone found indulging in any violation will be dealt under the rules.

She said under the policy all medical and dental college will be strictly monitored to observe whether admissions are given on merit. She said that the PMDC has set up a complaint cell for all the students seeking admission in the medical and dental colleges for the year 2016-17.

Under the policy all the students seeking admissions in medical and dental colleges will not be registered unless they fulfill all the criteria of admission prescribed in the regulations.

PMDC to review new medical and dental colleges criteria

According to the regulations a candidate local or foreign must have minimum 60% marks in F.Sc. (Pre-medical). The merit formula for the entry test will be 10% matric marks, 40% F.Sc. or equivalent, 50% (entry test) for local students and 50% (MCAT or SAT) for foreign Students.

Selected candidates for medical and dental colleges will be required to submit fee within seven days. Seats not filled by foreign graduates will be converted into local open merit seats with local student fee schedule.

Each college will display its fee and online official bank account Number on its website. Tuition fee for local student will be Rs 6,42000 per year and fee for foreign graduates will be USD 18,000 per year. No student will be charged for any sort of donation or monetary gain in any form, she added.

She said that the meeting of regional admission committee for Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) was held here Thursday which was chaired by Secretary National Health Services Muhammad Ayub Sheikh.
