US Vice President Joe Biden visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi
RIYADH: US Vice President Joe Biden visited Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

 

Biden visited the Grand Prayer Hall courtyard which is marbled and decorated with floral carvings and colourful mosaic.

 

Biden also visited the tomb of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

 

Joe Biden was presented a copy of the book "Spaces of Light" and a copy of book "The Houses of God".

 

Other US officials also accompanied Joe Biden during his visit.

 

Joe Biden later visited the Al-Dhafra Air Base near the UAE capital Abu Dhabi and spoke before US troops.

 

He said “We have to squeeze the heart of Daesh in Iraq and Syria so they can’t continue to pump their poison in the region and around the world.”

 

“You control the skies over Iraq and Syria and as a matter of fact, you control the skies over whole damn world,” Biden said, drawing cheers.

 

Emirates are one of the main allies of US in the Persian Gulf.

 

The base is used to target IS group in Iraq and Syria by American troops.

 

The purpose of the tour is to increase economic and energy ties and to discuss security concerns about Iran and Syria.

 

Biden will also visit Israel, the West Bank and Jordan during his tour.
