Pakistan-Germany to launch renewable energy forum

ISLAMABAD: German Ambassador Ina Lepel announced to launch a renewable energy forum in collaboration with Pakistan to enhance friendly relations and to bring the stakeholders of both countries from public and private sectors closer to each other.
As per details, she was addressing the 5th International Exhibition and Conference on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency here in Islamabad. She said that German Development Cooperation Agency had been providing its services in renewable energy and energy efficiency programmes since 1962.
She said that Germany wants to support Pakistan to end the energy crisis in Pakistan. “Our objective is to support sustainable electricity supply in Pakistan and to help improve efficient use of energy,” she added.
The German Ambassador further stated that German Development Agency aims to increase business potential in renewable energy in both countries in addition to technical and financial cooperation.
Alternative Energy Development Board Chief Executive Officer Amjad Ali Awan said that International market had encouraged Pakistan’s efforts in renewable energy sector and Pakistan is utilizing solar and wind resources in this regard while biomass mapping has already been completed by Pakistan.
