RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Adel-al-Jubeir claimed that Syrian President Bashar-al-Assad must leave the country immediately without any delay.
He said during a visit to France “For us it is very clear it’s at the beginning of the process, not at the end of the process, it’s not going to be 18 months.”
US and other countries also called Assad’s immediate removal which is backed by Russia.
His statement came days after the UN announcement to resume Syrian peace talks on 10th March to try to end the Syrian conflict.
Saudi FM also held talks on delivery of French arms worth $ 3 billion which was ordered for Lebanon.
He said “We made the decision that we will stop the $3 billion from going to the Lebanese military and instead they will be re-diverted to the Saudi Military.”
Both sides also discussed the regional situation and decided to support for unity, security and stability in the region.
Both countries also urged to strengthen bilateral cooperation to combat extremism, racism and sectarianism.
